Desert City Jazz, Phoenix’s premier LGBT and Ally Jazz Ensemble directed by Michael Collier, is thrilled to present its fall performances on two dates and in two great venues. Our special guest is jazz composer, pianist, and trombonist Mike Shellans. The band will perform six of Mike’s compelling original compositions, along with several familiar tunes in fresh new big band arrangements.
On Saturday, November 17, DCJ will return to the Clarendon Hotel Sky Deck, 401 W. Clarendon Avenue, Phoenix. A panoramic view of central Phoenix’s evening lights will provide the perfect backdrop while you enjoy swinging, progressive big band jazz. Doors open at 7:00 and the band starts at 7:30. Drinks are available at the rooftop bar, and food may be purchased in the hotel’s restaurant and brought up to the roof. Buy tickets for the Clarendon here!
On Monday, December 17, DCJ is excited to make its debut at the Nash jazz club, 110 E. Roosevelt Street, Phoenix. In just six years, the Nash has become recognized as one of the best jazz clubs in the country, thanks to its comfortable atmosphere, stellar talent lineup, and educational programs. Doors open at 7:00 and the band starts at 7:30. Drinks and snacks are available for purchase. Buy tickets for the Nash here!
The band will perform the same program for both shows. Both venues have limited seating and the shows are expected to sell out in advance, so get your tickets early!
