Chris Thompson, one of our trombonists, is also a dynamic lead vocalist. We featured Chris singing the Ides of March’s 1970 hit “Vehicle.” Composer Jim Peterik was inspired to write this song by a girl named Karen he had a crush on. He had a car and she would ask him to drive her here and there, but she didn’t seem interested in him for anything beyond a free ride. “I’m just her vehicle,” he thought – and a hit song was born. His persistence paid off, though; they later married.
Our arrangement also features guitarist Al Duarte recreating the iconic solo from the original hit. Enjoy!
